Umbria - Day 1: Florence (on foot)

Previous Up Next

The party assembled in Florence over the course of the day on Saturday. My group (Beth, Scott, and myself) made the brief walk to il Duomo in the afternoon, and climbed the dome and the tower, before meeting the rest of the party back at the hotel and having dinner. Not pictured: first gelato in Italy (nocciola, aka hazelnut).

Il Latini. I don't seem to have gotten any photos of the insane meal we ate in this restaurant. I counted six courses --- appetizers, primi (including the bread soup i've been trying to get the internet to replicate for me), an enormous plate of meat, dessert, biscotti with vin santo, then another fortified dessert wine. At that point, we asked for the check, so there's no real way of knowing how many more courses would have followed.
